Oh my God, she’s right. Why did I turn off Allison Portchnik? She was beautiful, she was willing. She was real intelligent. Is it the old Groucho Marx joke that I’m - I just don’t want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member?
Bon Iver
There’s something about this video in particular. I don’t know if it’s seeing the performance of my favourite Bon Iver song done in such an intimate setting, or the fact that it was recorded in candlelight, with the camera’s noise adding to the general feeling of something spontaneous, and beautiful. But every couple of months since it first was uploaded I find myself coming back to watch it again.
The Avengers (Assemble)
So I finally watched the Avengers (Assemble). I cannot see the appeal of the plot, or the over-the-top CGI, silly enemies, poor exposition… and especially the over-use of the orange/teal colour grading that’s so popular at the moment.
I have a feeling that in a decade or so people are going to look back at this style and think it looks crap. Along with instagram filters, black and white with selective colour, and mullets.
